Best Selling Resource!
Analysis Structure strips for Reading Non Fiction and Media Texts.
(Can also be used for KS3 higher ability class.)
Writing - Used alongside PPQs, this has proven to be a highly effective strategy to support writing at GCSE level and encourage pupils to develop their points.
I have also included a GCSE/KS3 frame for ‘Do Now’ tasks. You can start a lesson with a PPQ topic, short brainstorm of ideas then use this scaffold to lead into a short and punchy speech. Repeated practice can then be used to expand writing and build stamina.
SPG - Basic SPG rules for checking work at the end and reduces time going around the class and making secretarial edits - pupils can do so independently as a separate task. Chief Examiner report refers to the ‘Usual Suspects’ for spelling, which are also included at the bottom.
For rehearsal and oracy - you can use these as recap and recall. You can ask the class to recite elements or to move with you through the process of writing analytical paragraphs. It is not one size fits all, but I have had great success with all ranges of abilities using this scaffold. Hope you find it useful!
